FROM THE STUDIO:

Drawings and Sketches by Artists and Designers

Drawing by hand gives form to thought. For most artists and designers, sketching remains essential to a lifelong practice, from which the works in this exhibition emerge. Bringing together more than fifty artists and designers, From the Studio focuses on hand drawings as records of thought and invention.

The works on view include sketches, studies, material explorations, and working drawings that trace how ideas take shape before they become realized objects or finished pieces. Rather than presenting these works as secondary materials, the exhibition considers them in their own right: intimate documents of creative intuition. Seen together, they offer a view into the creative mind at work and the role of the hand in shaping artistic vision.

This first exhibition in Piscina’s new gallery space establishes a foundational emphasis on material, process, and artist-led perspectives.

Select finished works are on view alongside related drawings by Luke Malaney, Pat Kim, Matt Byrd, Garnier Pingree, Forrest Lewinger, Devin Wild, Sophie Collé, Chuck Van Dyck, and Free Tripp, creating a direct connection between drawings and the built work.
