Piscina was founded in 2013 by artist and furniture designer Natalie Shook as a working cooperative for artists, designers, and craftspeople. What began as a shared workshop, has grown into a community of independent creative practices, together with a showroom and gallery dedicated to contemporary craft and collectible design.

A graduate of The Cooper Union, where she studied painting, Natalie established Piscina from a belief that ambitious creative work thrives through collaboration, and a dedication to exceptional craftsmanship. Alongside her own multidisciplinary practice in furniture, ceramics, and woodworking, she has spent more than a decade building a place where independent artists and designers can develop their work while contributing to a broader creative culture.

Today, Piscina serves as both the home of Natalie's studio and a platform for the work of others. The showroom presents furniture, lighting, objects, and exhibitions by members of the cooperative as well as a selection of invited artists. The recently established gallery reflects Natalie's growing interest in curating exhibitions across art, design, and craft, focusing on how ideas take shape through material and process. .

Natalie's own work award winning work has been featured by The New York Times, Wallpaper, Surface, Sight Unseen, Dezeen, and Design Milk, among others. 

Today, Piscina continues to evolve as both a working cooperative and a cultural platform, supporting independent creative practice while creating new opportunities for contemporary craft and design to be made, exhibited, and experienced.
